Practical help that keeps families together

Ways we help pets stay home

Spoil A Stray is a program of Five O’Clock Sanctuary Inc. We help address the problems that can force a loved pet out of a home, one family and one practical need at a time.

What assistance can look like

Help is based on the pet, the need and available resources

Submitting an application does not guarantee assistance. We review each situation individually, require proof of need, and prioritize help that gives a pet the best chance of remaining safely with the people who love them.

Veterinary Care

When funding and eligibility allow, we may help with necessary veterinary care. Approved assistance is paid directly to the veterinary provider. We do not give cash to applicants.

Spay and Neuter

Spay and neuter are a priority because prevention protects individual pets and reduces future shelter intake. We do not fund breeding-related care.

Food and Essential Supplies

Pet food, leashes, collars, bedding, crates, puppy pads and other donated essentials can help a family through a difficult stretch without giving up a pet.

Training and Safer Homes

Behavior challenges can put a pet’s home at risk. When appropriate resources are available, we may help connect families with training or practical tools that support a safer home.

Help for Pet Finders

A person who safely holds a found pet can prevent an immediate shelter intake. We may provide practical supplies while the finder searches for an owner or a responsible permanent home.

Affordable Pet Care Resources

When direct assistance is not available, AffordablePetClinics.com helps Florida families search for lower cost veterinary care and other pet resources by area.

A Five O'Clock Sanctuary Go Bag with portable water, treats and supplies for a dog in need

Help can travel with you

Go Bags

Our Go Bags are made for people to keep in their vehicles. If they meet a person experiencing homelessness with a dog, they already have a few useful supplies ready to share.

Each bag is a small way for another person to help keep that dog safe, comfortable and spoiled too.

Preventing shelter intake

Supporting the person who stops

Finding a roaming pet can become expensive quickly. We provided this stroller, cart and collection of supplies to someone who stepped in to care for a dog they found.

Helping a responsible finder can give a pet time to be reunited with an owner or placed safely without ever entering a shelter.

Longwood to rural Florida

Supplies and rural outreach

Through our partnership with Sit Means Sit Longwood, community members donate unwanted pet food and supplies through an on-site collection box.

We gather the usable items and deliver them to rural communities where pet resources may be harder to access.

Please know before applying

We help pets remain in homes. We do not take in animals.

Five O’Clock Sanctuary Inc. does not operate an animal shelter, accept surrendered pets or give cash directly to individuals. Approved financial assistance is paid to the provider whenever possible.
